Thanks for the tip!
I also had this issue, and removing the UTL entries from the registry solved the problem.
Thumbs up!

Hey Rex,

XP is not -that- old yet. I was mainly talking about windows 2000 and down. Although Windows XP is getting older by the day. Be careful that you don't 'stray' on windows XP for too long, as Microsoft will discontinue updates for Windows XP in April 2014. (Yes, that is quite a while still.)

I understand what you mean though. I loved my Windows XP until I had to buy a new PC and thought I'd give windows Vista a try. I didn't like it as much as I liked Windows XP myself, either. But I personally love Windows 7. I recently got a new PC that had Windows 7 on it. And I love the customization options available. Yes, it does take some getting used to. Especially if you used to know the Control Panel like the back of your hand. But I really think it is worth it. Once you get to know Windows 7, you can cruise through it very smoothly.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic, and I hope you enjoyed the read.

Regards,
Olrik

Speaking as one of those people who is running his main machine with XP, I think the most likely reason why is because I know how to use it. I've been using this PC since Xp first came out and it still does everything I need it for. I've no imediate need to upgrade. I run Norton Internet Security and I don't go to stupid or dangerous web sites. My ISP screens all email to remove 99 percent of the infected & dangerous SPAM that gets sent to me. Norton gets the rest.

My daughter and wife have PCs running Vista and I must admit that I find then difficult to get used to. It seems that Microsoft went out of their way to make the operating system less user firendly. I wish Vista & 7 came with the option to make the interface look and act like XP, then I would upgrade in a heartbeat.

I hope that sheds some light on the topic.

@Sarah

However, people often assume that because your a tech, you also know everything. You sometimes need to say no, that’s not my field, but at the same time have a broad knowledge base.

I've had this happen to me several times actually. I hate it when it happens though, as I don't like letting people down.

I think I had a conversation about this in IRC the other day. The IT/Tech world is so big you can't know it all. However, people often assume that because your a tech, you also know everything. You sometimes need to say no, that's not my field, but at the same time have a broad knowledge base.
There is a reason why Microsoft hires tens of thousands of people, you need many areas of expertise.
The field is also crowded with young people nowadays that claim to know most things. You need to find one or two particular areas of expertise, such as a programming, web dev. or Networking, then even get e niche within that field, like Security, Analysis or Development.
