I am sure, that most of the people that visit my blog know about Technical Helping sites like “Geeks to Go!” or “Bleeping Computer”. And if you don’t, they are Technical Support forums for the ‘Average Joe’ to receive help with their computer problems. Of course, we also get geeks visiting that would like to contribute to the site and become staff members. But there are also those, that try to impress others by ‘gloating’ about whatever ‘great thing’ they have done. It can be anything they claim to be good at, sometimes they even claim they can do anything in the technical field. Well guess what? The ICT/Technical field is so big that nobody can know it all.

A while back I ran into one of these people that claim to be experts at what they do. And let me tell you that he couldn’t even get a quarter of his facts straight. I was asked by one of my colleagues if I could help the people he had tried to help. I spent quite a while chasing after all the vague, weird and unprofessional (incorrect) advice he had given to make sure the people following the ‘advice’ wouldn’t get hurt in the process. But it seems that I find more and more people like this these days.

Welcome to the Reign of the Technical “Experts”, because there seem to be more and more popping up at this time. I guess you can always find one or two, though I am really getting fed up with all these claims of how good people are. Let your work speak for you and don’t try to force your opinion onto others. Because it Just. Won’t. Work.

Regards,
Olrik
